About Us
Rooted in Tradition. Built on Family. Dedicated to Community.
Since 1945, Finnicum’s has been more than just a store. It has been a family tradition, a trusted neighbor, and a cornerstone of the communities we proudly serve.
Our story began in Culbertson, Montana, when our family opened the doors as Gamble Stores, commonly known as Gamble’s. What started as a small-town furniture and hardware store would grow into a multi-generational, family-owned business built on hard work, strong relationships, and an unwavering commitment to customer service.
Over the years, the family expanded its roots throughout northeastern Montana and western North Dakota, opening additional locations in Poplar, Montana; Williston, North Dakota; and Sidney, Montana. While the Poplar location was tragically lost to a fire, the Williston store continued serving customers until 2011, followed by the Sidney location in 2013. Today, our original Culbertson location remains the last surviving franchise, carrying forward the legacy that began more than eight decades ago.
In 2006, our family's dedication to business and community was recognized when Finnicum’s received the Montana Family Business of the Year Award — an honor that reflects generations of hard work, perseverance, and commitment to the people we serve.
Just as our communities have grown and changed, so have we. What began primarily as a furniture and hardware store has evolved into a one-stop shopping destination offering furniture, bedding, appliances, home essentials, giftware, sporting goods, home décor, toys, and so much more. While our selection has expanded, the values behind our business have never changed.
At Finnicum’s, customer service isn't just something we offer. It's who we are. We believe in knowing our customers, going the extra mile, and treating people the way we'd want our own family to be treated. Whether it's helping someone find exactly what they need, offering a helping hand, or simply greeting a familiar face, it's those personal connections that have kept generations of customers coming through our doors.
For over 80 years, our family has been proud to serve the hardworking people of northeastern Montana and the surrounding rural communities. We understand the importance of shopping local, supporting our neighbors, and being there when our customers need us.
Times have changed. Our store has changed. But our commitment to family, community, and exceptional service never will.
